Russia (bbabo.net), - A criminal case has been initiated for water pollution, as a result of which in November there was a mass death of fish in the oxbow of the Sura River within the city limits, the prosecutor's office of the Penza region reported.

- It was found that various substances were discharged into the river with overestimated values ​​of phenol, oil products, copper and zinc. As a result of the death of fish, aquatic biological resources were damaged in the amount of more than 400 thousand rubles. The culprit is being established, - said Svetlana Artamonova, senior assistant to the prosecutor of the Penza region.

Specialists of the Middle Volga Territorial Administration of the Federal Agency for Fisheries and the Interregional Administration of Rosprirodnadzor for the Saratov and Penza Regions were also involved in the case.

The investigation of the criminal case is under the control of the regional prosecutor's office.
