Serial production of the first electric passenger car is planned in Russia for 2022 or 2023. The head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Denis Manturov told about this in an interview with RBC.

“We assume that the first serial electric car will appear in Russia in the next year or two,” he said.

The head of the department recalled that from 2022 a new support measure will be launched for light electric vehicles. Russians will be able to get a 25% discount in the framework of preferential car loans. However, the amount of the discount will have to be no more than 625 thousand rubles.

In early June, Manturov announced the creation of the Aurus electric car in Russia. He stated that the Ministry of Industry and Trade is considering the possibility of organizing the serial production of these cars on hydrogen fuel. Later in July, Manturov announced that production of hydrogen cars in Russia would begin in 2024.
