Russia - Infectionist Voznesensky did not rule out a new wave of COVID-19 in January

Russia (bbabo.net) - The rise in the incidence of coronavirus in Russia in January is quite likely due to the omicron strain. This was stated by Sergei Voznesensky, Associate Professor of the Department of Infectious Diseases of the RUDN University. He recalled the new wave of COVID-19 in Europe and the United States.

At the same time, the infectious disease specialist could not say for sure whether the new strain would lead to an increase in the number of hospitalizations. But it is highly likely that there will be few serious patients, the specialist shared his thoughts.

According to Voznesensky, the most deadly variant was the "delta". With him was the maximum lethality, writes RIA Novosti.

Earlier in an interview, Doctor of Medical Sciences Tatyana Ruzhentsova said that after the holidays it would hardly be possible to avoid a new rise in the incidence. She came to this conclusion while analyzing the situation with the spread of "omicron" in other countries. Plus, the previous experience in combating COVID-19 in Russia was taken into account.
