NATO Foreign Ministers to hold an extraordinary meeting on Russia

NATO Foreign Ministers will hold an emergency videoconference on January 7 to discuss Russia's demands on security assurances. This was announced by the spokesman for the alliance Oana Lungescu on her Twitter page.

“The ministers will discuss the concentration of Russian forces on the territory of Ukraine (meaning Crimea, - approx.) And around it, and broader issues of European security,” the message says.

Earlier, NATO confirmed that negotiations with Russia on security guarantees will take place on January 12, 2022.

On December 15, the Russian Foreign Ministry handed over to the American side drafts of an agreement between Russia and the United States on security guarantees and an agreement on measures to ensure the security of the Russian Federation and the NATO member states. The document, in particular, states that the United States should not create military bases in the territories of the former USSR countries that are not NATO members.
