In the new year, Russians will see eight astronomical phenomena

Nikolai Zheleznov, a senior researcher at the Institute of Applied Astronomy (IPA) of the Russian Academy of Sciences in St. Petersburg, said that in 2022, Russians will see two eclipses, two supermoons and four starfalls. TASS reports.

One of the celestial phenomena - the Quadrantid stream - can be seen very soon - on the night of January 2 to 3. The Russians will be able to observe the Aquarid stream in May, the Perseids - at the end of August, and the Geminid stream - from December 13-14.

"In 2022, two eclipses will be observed on the territory of Russia, a partial solar on October 25 and a total lunar on November 8," Zheleznov said.

Residents of Tver and Muscovites will be able to best view the celestial body in the shade.

The specialist noted that the Russians will be able to observe the total lunar eclipse on November 8. It will be seen mainly by residents of the Far East and Siberia, it will be extremely difficult to observe it in the regions of the European part of Russia, the scientist said.

Also, two full-fledged supermoons in a row will be noticeable in Russia - on June 14 and July 13.

Earlier, astronomers talked about unusual cosmic phenomena on New Year's holidays.
