Regions are influenced by television. Alexey Sukharev said that people copy the wrong trends

Most Russians know about the work of stylist Alexei Sukharev from his participation in the show "Boys", in which he assesses the ability of the participants in the show to dress and gives advice on style. However, his activities are much broader. Alexey's track record includes such television projects as Fashionable Sentence, Gemini, Zhanna Help, New Day, and he also hosts the Fashion Podcast program with Alexander Vasilyev and interviews the main figures of the fashion industry ... In an interview, the stylist spoke about working with stars, transforming women and teaching at Moscow State University. - You work as both a stylist and a TV presenter, and have already become an influencer. You have over 120k followers on Instagram. Which of these are you most interested in?

- In different periods, different things are closer to me. Of course, I continue to work as a stylist, or rather act as a style expert - I advise, give advice. I would not want to completely switch to running programs, blogging or anything else, because the ability to combine different fields of activity does not allow you to burn out.

- You are currently hosting the Fashion Podcast program, which comes out on the YouTube channel of the same name. In what capacity are you present in the project, as a presenter or something more?

- I have been working for the Krasny Kvadrat company, which makes the Fashion Podcast program, for a very, very long time. He started back in 2009 with the "Fashionable Sentence" program. Together with the producers of the television production holding, it occurred to us to make a free project about fashion in the genre of interviews for people who are interested in fashion or, perhaps, work in this industry. Before coming up with this format, we had a lot of briefs and brainstorming sessions with the team. This is a niche product - not for everyone. In the program, I act as not only the host, but also the co-author, co-creator of this project.

- In the comments to one of the videos of the Fashion Podcast with fashion historian Alexander Vasiliev they write: “Leading fellow. Well prepared and with an incredible effort of will managed to turn the traditional monologue of Vasiliev into a conversation. " How do you work with the master of the fashion industry? This is not your first joint project ...

- Alexander and I have known each other for a long time, it seems to me, since 2009, when I came to work on Channel One as a very young creature. Of course, he influenced me more with his passion for the work, his passion for the topic. Of course, I also wanted to somehow develop in a fashionable environment, in parallel with my work I studied quite a lot.

It's wonderful to work with Alexander, because he is a person who has a good sense of humor, is incredibly efficient, because he never rests.

If at 34 I feel that I sometimes fall apart, then Alexander at his age does not feel this. It is a pleasure to work with him, because he is a storehouse of knowledge.

The format that we are doing with him should not imply a conversation. This is an opportunity to share with people a huge baggage of knowledge of my guest. If Alexander usually gives these lectures in some chamber halls for money, then the viewers of our podcast have the opportunity to get acquainted with this material completely free of charge.

- You say that you were still studying in parallel with your work. Now you teach at Moscow State University, but did you receive your education there?

- Yes, I studied there - on the course "Theory and the industry of fashion" at the Faculty of Philosophy of Moscow State University - in the format of a free listener, since study had to be combined with work. This course was founded by Irene Shvedayte (fashion expert, psychologist - together with Alexander Vasiliev. The course does not teach exactly to be stylists. This is an opportunity to learn a little more about fashion than in a week-long course that promises to make you stylists. Many come there for in order to improve their education, and not with the goal of becoming stylists or designers.

- You mentioned the courses run by stylists. How do you feel about them? Now there are a huge number of them ... How to understand what is really worth the money and where knowledge will really be given, and what is worth nothing but advertising?

- It is impossible to understand this, but I believe that the courses will not be superfluous. You just need to go through a lot of these courses from different stylists in order to create in your head some kind of impression about this work. In the course, the stylist shares his experience. By the way, I also conduct lectures at the university, based on the experience that I have acquired over the years.

- You have acted as a stylist and fashion expert on numerous projects for the transformation of women ...

- I worked in such make-over shows as "Fashionable Sentence", "Gemini", "Zhanna Help", "Boys", "New Day" and others. The skills that I learned while working on makeover programs are the most valuable. The fact is that I was dealing with real women with their real figures, fates and characters. Here you need to work not only as a stylist, but also as a psychologist.

- Why is it important to take into account the psychology to change the image?- In my opinion, this combination is very important, because your job is to communicate with people in the first place. I always prepare the girls who study with us at Moscow State University to not have to build incredible dreams about the work of a stylist. This is by no means an idle wandering through boutiques with a glass of coffee and lazy fingering of hangers on a rail. This is hard work, physical, by the way, including, of course, emotional, because your task is to give people new emotions, new impressions. You must be charged for this.

- Why are many images of the heroines of the make-over show so pretentious, catchy, although it seems that brevity is now in vogue?

- The first task of stylists who transform the heroine is to give her a new emotion, to make her look at herself from a different angle, to see something unusual on herself. This is not a story about how a woman should dress to go to the supermarket.

- You work not only on television, but also with Russian stars. What is it - do you dress for events or dismantle your wardrobe?

- Yes, I periodically work with Russian stars. For example, with Yulia Baranovskaya - this is my close friend, with Yana Churikova, with Diana Arbenina.

- Why do many Russian celebrities dress badly for events, unlike Western ones?

- You have to understand that for us American stars are "wow". We think that they are much cooler than ours, but trust me, in America they also hate American stars, as we do with our own. This is a completely normal process. Unfortunately, people are so arranged that it is much easier for them to criticize someone. And with the advent of incredible freedom of speech on the Internet, anyone can go to any star and write some nasty comment. Even 20 years ago, this was impossible, and then everyone looked at them with an open mouth, understanding celebrities - this is something unattainable.

- But still, sometimes the images are indescribably disastrous ...

- I believe that every famous person dresses in the way he sees fit and definitely knows why he does it. Maybe some outfits serve precisely to evoke emotion. After all, when it’s smooth and sleek, everyone walks by and thinks: “Okay, okay, let's go look where it’s bad, it’s more interesting.”

- In that case, whose presentation of images is close to you?

- In this sense, I admire Lolita. She often dresses provocatively, but very stylishly. I love the energy with which she presents her outfit. It is most important! You can go out in jeans and burlap and carry it as if it were a couture dress, or you can look very mediocre in a couture dress for several hundred thousand dollars. Here it is more about the woman than about the outfit.

- But it seems to me that working with a stylist is also important here. Maybe many celebrities just don't listen to their advice and think that they know everything better themselves ...

- No stylist knows better than the person himself how to present himself. A person has a mood, a message with which he goes to a particular event. That's why I say that a stylist must be a good psychologist in order to catch this mood, and not just take and create a picture that he keeps in his head, just because it is fashionable. It's all about the feelings of another person. For example, when we first met Diana Arbenina for coffee, I already knew what we were going to do. I understood what she was, what she is now, what period in her life and what she wants to be.

- Let's talk about Russians and their style. Do you watch people dress on the street?

- Of course, people began to look much prettier and more diverse. This is due not only to the development of social networks, but also to the fact that a huge number of opportunities to dress have appeared - there is a mass market, and not only heavy luxury and a market with disgusting quality goods. Now you can look cool for any budget. By the way, make-over shows prove this, because most often pretty bows are created for modest sums. And so, to be honest, I try not to look around at all, because we live in an incredible information flow.

- Does the style in the regions differ from the style in Moscow?

- The style, of course, is different, because in Moscow there are more opportunities, and I also think that people in the regions and the capital have different sources of inspiration. Regions are more influenced by television, and on television, not every product is good. There are projects that live for a long time for some unknown reason, which broadcast completely the wrong trends. People choose in their role models the style of characters that are not worthy of it. It is sad.

- Many people notice that it is becoming more and more difficult to find quality items in stores not at exorbitant prices. How do you find clothes for yourself?
