Russia (bbabo.net), - The Russian Biathlon Union has announced the names of the athletes who will compete at the Beijing Winter Olympics in February.
The men's team included Alexander Loginov, Eduard Latypov, Daniil Serokhvostov, Karim Khalili and Maxim Tsvetkov. Substitutes will be Anton Babikov and Alexander Povarnitsyn.
The women's team includes Kristina Reztsova, Uliana Nigmatullina, Svetlana Mironova, Irina Kazakevich, Valeria Vasnetsova. The substitutes were Anastasia Shevchenko and Evgenia Burtasova.
Only 5 athletes for men and women will go to the Games, and the substitutes will remain in Russia and will be able to go to China only if someone from the main team cannot compete for medical reasons.
The head of the Russian Olympic Committee, Stanislav Pozdnyakov, also expressed his opinion about the composition. He agrees that the strongest athletes at the moment will start at the Olympics.
"Absolutely a fair choice in terms of results. The athletes who will go to the Games looked good both at the last stage of the World Cup and in the whole season. There is no doubt about any of the candidates. I am sure that there were no disputes on the composition of the RRF " Pozdnyakov said.
