Russian skiers won gold medals in the 4x5 km relay at the Beijing Olympics.
Yulia Stupak, Natalya Nepryaeva, Tatyana Sorina and Veronika Stepanova received gold medals. After three stages, the Russians took second place, 5 seconds behind the Germans, but Stepanova, who ran the fourth stage, was ahead of everyone by more than 18 seconds at the finish line.
The second place in the relay was taken by the German team, the third - by Sweden.
For the Russian women's team, this was the first gold at the Olympic Games in the relay since 2006.
