Tutberidze noted that a very complex and controversial situation has arisen, in which many questions have arisen, for which there are almost no answers.
“We are absolutely sure that Camila is innocent and pure. And for us this is not a theorem, but an axiom - this does not need to be proven. I understand that there is some protocol of actions that cannot be dispensed with. We did not abandon the athlete in any case. We are with our athletes in trouble and in joy to the end," Tutberidze said on Channel One.
The coach said that she did not understand why an athlete with a dubious test, passed on December 25, was even allowed to the Games.
"I really hope that our leaders will not leave us and defend our rights and prove our innocence. Now our entire team is frozen in anticipation of decisions regarding Kamila Valieva. We are afraid of any statements so as not to violate, harm. I don't know who and what decides, but we really hope that justice will somehow prevail," Tutberidze said.
Valieva's positive test was officially announced on Friday. On February 12, at a meeting of the Court of Arbitration for Sport, a decision will be made on whether the leader of the Russian team will be able to play in the women's singles tournament.
