Swiss lawyers will represent the interests of figure skater Valieva in CAS

The interests of the Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva in the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) will be represented by the Swiss law firm Schellenberg Wittmer Ltd, Match TV reports.

Previously, this company represented the Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA) in a case against the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), as well as in an appeal against the decision of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to permanently ban a number of Russian athletes from participating in the Olympics. In 2018, CAS acquitted 28 Russian athletes disqualified by the IOC, the punishment of 11 more Russians was reduced.

RBC sent a request to the ROC.

The IOC will challenge the admission of Kamila Valieva to the Olympics Olympiad 2022 Valieva on December 25 at the Russian Championship passed a positive test for trimetazidine. On February 8, RUSADA imposed a temporary suspension on the 15-year-old figure skater, but the next day, the RUSADA disciplinary committee overturned this decision, which allowed the season leader to continue performing at the Beijing Olympics.

On February 7, Russian figure skaters, including Valieva, won the team tournament at the Olympics, but the award ceremony has not yet taken place.

The IOC and the International Skating Union said they would appeal RUSADA's decision to allow Valieva to compete in the Olympics. The Russian Olympic Committee stated that since the sample was taken before the Games, the results of the athlete and the team tournament during the Olympic Games are not subject to automatic review.
