The fate of Russia's gold at the 2022 Olympics after the doping scandal became known

Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva will be able to compete in the women's singles tournament at the 2022 Olympics in Beijing, while the Russian team will keep the gold won in the team competition. This is reported by "Championship".

The team of lawyers managed to remove the suspension from the athlete. Despite this, the decision can be appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).

The source emphasized that the athlete is temporarily suspended only if the drug found in his body is considered special. This does not apply to the situation with Valieva.

On February 9, the Inside The Games portal reported that the doping test of 15-year-old Valieva was questionable. According to media reports, the test was passed before the start of the 2022 Olympics - in December 2021. The sample contained traces of the drug trimetazidine, which is used to prevent angina pectoris.
