The Russian national team took the lead in the Olympics standings in terms of the total number of medals

Russia (bbabo.net), - Short tracker Semyon Elistratov's bronze brought the Russian team to the top of the Beijing Winter Olympics medal standings in terms of total medal count.

Now our team has 11 medals (two gold, three silver and six bronze). Norway is second (4-2-4), Austria closes the top three (2-4-4).

Yelistratov won his third Olympic medal in his career: he previously became the champion in Sochi in the relay, then he took bronze in the 1500 meters.

Another important event took place today - the Russian national hockey team played its first match at this year's Olympics. Alexey Zhamnov's team defeated Switzerland 1:0 in a tense struggle. The Russians will play their next match on February 11 against Denmark, which defeated the Czech Republic (2:1) in the first round.
