Russian athletes more often tested for doping before the Olympics

The largest number of recommendations for pre-Olympic doping testing was issued for Russian athletes, as well as representatives of alpine skiing and hockey, according to the website of the International Doping Testing Agency (ITA).

The ITA, on behalf of the IOC, implements an independent anti-doping program for the Beijing Games. Agency experts, including independent experts, representatives of international federations and national anti-doping organizations, after assessing the risks of anti-doping rule violations in September 2021, issued more than 5,400 recommendations for testing individual athletes and teams who could compete at the Games.

95% of athletes for whom recommendations have been issued have undergone at least one doping test prior to the Games.

Among the national teams, the most recommendations were given to the Russian team, which will play at the Games as the "team of the Russian Olympic Committee" (ROC), the second in the list is the German team, the third - the United States.
