Ice hockey teams of Finland and Sweden made it to the 1/4 finals of the Olympics

The national teams of Finland and Sweden went directly to the 1/4 finals of the Olympic tournament at the 2022 Games in Beijing following the results of a head-to-head match of the group stage, in which the Finns beat the Swedes in overtime.

Group C match, held on Sunday, ended with the score 4:3 (0:0, 0:3, 3:0, 1:0) in favor of the Finns, who after 40 minutes of the game lost 0:3.

The Russian hockey player accused the Czechs of simulating after the defeat at the 2022 Olympics Games. Harri Pesonen scored the winning goal in the 63rd minute, Iiro Pakarinen (56 and 58) scored a double for the Finns (56 and 58), Teemu Hartikainen scored another goal (46). The Swedes scored Lukas Walmark (25), Lukas Bengtsson (29) and Anton Lander (32).

The Finnish national team scored 8 points in three matches and took first place in group C. The Swedish team (7 points) also qualified for the 1/4 finals, securing the best position among the teams that took second places in their groups ahead of schedule.

Earlier on Sunday, in another group match, the Slovakian team beat Latvia 5-2 to take third place in the quartet table. The Latvian team lost all three matches of the group and remained in fourth place.
