Traumatologist Kostenko called bone-destroying foods and drinks

Russia (, - The health of the human musculoskeletal system largely depends on calcium and vitamin D, which are building blocks for bones. Alas, with age or because of an improper lifestyle, human bones become brittle, serious health problems can appear.

Yuri Kostenko, head of the department of traumatology and orthopedics at the Medincenter Clinical Diagnostic Center, told that if the diet is disturbed, systematic snacks "on the go" or frequent use of fast food, there may be a deficiency of vitamins and minerals. As a result, the bones become thin.

Of particular danger are sweet carbonated drinks containing a large amount of phosphoric acid. With regular use of soda, calcium can be washed out of the bones. And the trans fats that are part of fast food or confectionery products can cause the formation of pathogenic microflora and poor digestibility of vitamin K2, which is responsible formation of bone tissue.

Too much coffee is dangerous. Caffeine has a diuretic effect, and when drinking large amounts of coffee, calcium is washed out of the body. The doctor recommends that a healthy person drink no more than 2-3 cups of coffee per day.

To prevent osteoporosis, Yuriy Kostenko advises not only to eat right, but also to lead an active lifestyle, as the body reacts to the lack of muscle load by reducing bone mass.

"Hiking, skating or skiing - do what you like, but with the right technique and taking into account individual characteristics," says the traumatologist.
