On Monday, the rules of the competition were amended. Instead of the 24 strongest, 25 athletes will enter the free program. In the first warm-up, instead of six participants, seven will perform.

The increase in the number of participants in the free program was initiated by the International Olympic Committee in connection with the admission to the competitions of the Russian woman Kamila Valieva, whose suspension due to a positive doping test was insisted on by the IOC, the World Anti-Doping Agency and the International Skating Union. The new regulation will be valid on the condition that the holder of the world record for the points scored for the short and free programs, as well as for the sum of two types of Valiev, according to the results of the first type, will be among the 24 strongest.

Recall that the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) allowed the Russian figure skater to continue participating in the Beijing Olympics.
