This September marks four years since the second and last, at the moment, fight between Kazakh Gennady Golovkin (41-1-1, 36 KOs) and Mexican Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (57-1-2, 39 KOs) .
Rumors of a trilogy are still rumors. But recently, insiders have added fuel to the fire. It was reported that their next confrontation could take place already in the super middleweight limit (168 pounds), and Alvarez's four titles would be at stake. Even Canelo's impressive fee was announced and the potential date for the third fight is September 17th.

Even when Golovkin and Canelo win against other fighters and don't "touch" each other in any way, they can "stab" an old acquaintance.
So, in December 2020, GGG successfully defended the IBF and IBO middleweight titles by defeating Pole Kamil Sheremeta (21-1, 5 KOs).
After the fight, Golovkin spoke about the possible return of 47-year-old Oscar De La Hoya to professional boxing, who challenged the Kazakhstani.
"Everyone knows that this guy has a very dirty mouth. Everything related to Golovkin is a nightmare for him. If I have a legal opportunity to kill him in the ring, I can take the chance."
Canelo stood up former promoter and did it quite harshly: “He is talking nonsense, because they go into the ring to harm the opponent, yes, but not to kill him. You can’t want to kill someone there. It’s inhumane. It’s stupidity. It's inhumane to deliberately want to kill someone."
"We all give a fuck about what you think"
These words do not refer to the direct appeal of one boxer to another, however, all the same, this quote shows the sports anger and desire for revenge that Golovkin has with Canelo:
GGG rarely resorts to trash talk or harsh language on social media, however, when American reporter Matt Richardson stated that "the deal with GGG is over," the Kazakhstani decided to respond.
"I'd rather watch Alvarez against Charlo (WBC Champion) than GGG again. He's exhausted."
Golovkin's response was quite blunt: "We don't give a fuck what you think. I'd rather look at people who really do something and deserve my attention than those who are trash talkers and hype on my name. Too much clichéd..
Liar, "runner" and not a champion
Another verbal tirade from GGG. Back in 2018, a Kazakhstani fighter attacked Canelo with criticism, saying that he considers him a liar, not a champion (we are talking about two failed Mexican doping tests).
"Alvarez is not a champion. He is a liar who has no respect for boxing and the fans. In our first fight, I didn't even feel Canelo's punches. It was more like spanking. He's not the hardest puncher I've ever fought, but he quite fast. Perhaps he is the most experienced of my opponents, "said GGG.
Let's fast forward three years. In 2021, Golovkin stated that Canelo was avoiding a trilogy with him, talking about the Mexican constantly changing weight classes:
“I’m not going to say that this is the main reason that he changed weight classes. But at the same time, this argument is probably not without merit. It’s no secret that he didn’t want to give me a third fight, although he "There were some commitments to DAZN and he went the other way. All of that probably supports the point that he's avoiding me. "Golovkin has achieved nothing"
In 2021, even three years after the rematch, talk of a trilogy has not subsided (just as they do not subside now). Last year, Canelo was once again asked about a possible fight against Golovkin, the Mexican decided to answer sharply:
