The main favorites are Russians Kamila Valieva, Anna Shcherbakova and Alexandra Trusova. At the European Championships held in January, they took the first three places. Shcherbakova is also the current world champion, Trusova is a bronze medalist.

Valieva has the highest chances of winning. What matters is whether she copes with the psychological pressure caused by the scandal with her December doping test and a possible suspension from the Olympics, which never happened.

At the last training session before the start of the competition, Valieva made a mistake when performing a quadruple sheepskin coat, touching the ice with both hands.

Earlier, the Court of Arbitration for Sport allowed the Russian woman to continue competing at the Olympics after a problematic doping test, but then the International Olympic Committee said that if Valieva got into the prize-winners of individual competitions, she would not hold an awards ceremony. Medals will be awarded after the doping trial is completed.

Medals in women's singles will be distributed on February 17 following the results of a free program.

Nordic combined

Men. Big jump + 10 km race (14:00 Moscow time)

The first competition in Nordic combined (normal hill and 10 km race) ended with the triumph of the German Vincenz Geiger. Norwegian Jorgen Grobak won silver, Austrian Lukas Greiderer won bronze (plus 6.6).Russians Vyacheslav Barkov, Artem Galunin and Samir Mastiev are the debutants of the Games and took places from 38th to 40th at the first Olympic start.
