Olympic medal standings

About the medals in brief

Russian biathletes will fight for the podium in the relay race;

Rostislav Gaytyukevich and Aleksey Laptev will try to win an award based on the results of the two-bean competition.

Curling

Men, Russia - Norway (04:05 Moscow time), Russia - Canada (15:05 Moscow time). Women, China - Russia (9:05 Moscow time).

Men have three wins and three losses. There are three games ahead, two of which will be played on Tuesday. In many respects, the result of these matches will determine whether the Russians will reach the semi-finals, where four teams will get. So far, the national team shares 4-6 places with the USA and Switzerland. The closest rivals - Canada and Norway - are third and seventh.

The Russian women's team lost all six matches and lost the chances of getting into the playoffs. The upcoming meeting with China has no tournament value for the Russians.

Anastasia Tatalina overcame the qualification. She showed the fifth result - 72.03 points. Another Russian woman, Ksenia Orlova, became 21st and did not qualify for the final stage. True, despite the rather high position, bookmakers do not consider Tatalina capable of winning a medal.

Favorites - Estonian Kelly Sildaru, Norwegian Juhanne Killy, Chinese Eileen Gu, French Tess Lede.

Alpine skiing

Women. Downhill (06:00 GMT)

Yulia Pleshkova placed 27th in the giant slalom and 18th in the super-G at the Olympics. The Russian woman is not considered as a contender for a medal in the downhill. The main favorites are the Swiss Lara Gut-Behrami and Corinne Suter, as well as the Italian Sofia Goggia.

Biathlon

Men. Relay, 4x7.5 km (9:30 Moscow time)

The race will start 2.5 hours earlier than scheduled due to too cold weather, which will be established in Beijing by noon. Karim Khalili, Alexander Loginov, Maxim Tsvetkov and Eduard Latypov will run for the Russian national team.

The Russians will fight for a medal. In addition to Norway and France, there are no more real contenders for the podium. Swedish biathletes do not look the best at the Olympics, the Germans have not been among the relay favorites for a long time, other teams are even weaker.

Skating

Women. Team Pursuit. For bronze and final (11:22 Moscow time)

In the semi-finals, Russians Elizaveta Golubeva, Anastasia Grigoryeva, Evgenia Lalenkova and Natalya Voronina will meet with the main favorites of the Japanese competition, Russian athletes have practically no hopes for the final.

Most likely, Russia will not win the race for bronze either. The chances of other semi-finalists - Canada and the Netherlands - for a medal are estimated much higher.

Skating

Men. Team Pursuit. For bronze and final (11:41 Moscow time)

The Americans are considered the favorites of the semi-final race. Daniil Aldoshkin, Alexander Rumyantsev, Sergey Trofimov and Ruslan Zakharov do not have much hope for a medal either (the Dutch and Norwegians will run in the second semi-final).

However, the chances of a reward for men are not as illusory as for women. However, getting the Russians on the podium will still be a big surprise.

Figure skating

Women. Single skating, short program (13:00 Moscow time)

The main favorites are Russians Kamila Valieva, Anna Shcherbakova and Alexandra Trusova. At the European Championships held in January, they took the first three places. Shcherbakova is also the current world champion, Trusova is a bronze medalist.

Valieva has the highest chances of winning. What matters is whether she copes with the psychological pressure caused by the scandal with her December doping test and a possible suspension from the Olympics, which never happened.

At the last training session before the start of the competition, Valieva made a mistake when performing a quadruple sheepskin coat, touching the ice with both hands.

Earlier, the Court of Arbitration for Sport allowed the Russian woman to continue competing at the Olympics after a problematic doping test, but then the International Olympic Committee said that if Valieva got into the prize-winners of individual competitions, she would not hold an awards ceremony. Medals will be awarded after the doping trial is completed.

Medals in women's singles will be distributed on February 17 following the results of a free program.
