Russian freestyler hugged Ukrainian after winning Olympic medals

Russian freestyler Ilya Burov hugged Ukrainian athlete Alexander Abramenko after the ski acrobatics competition at the Beijing Olympics. After the end of the competition, the Russian and Ukrainian athletes also congratulated each other on the medals and shook hands.

Burov won a bronze medal in this discipline, Abramenko - silver. The athlete from China Qi Guangpu won.

This award was the first for Abramenko for Ukraine at the current Olympics.

Russian freestyler won bronze in acrobatics at the 2022 Olympics Olympics Before the start of the Olympics, it was reported that Ukrainian athletes who will perform in Beijing received a recommendation from the country's Ministry of Sports not to give interviews in Russian. They were also advised to avoid joint photos with Russian athletes during the Games.

During the Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Ukrainian Yaroslava Maguchy, who won bronze in the high jump, took a joint photo with the winning Russian Maria Lasitskene, after which a wave of criticism hit the Ukrainian athlete in social networks. She herself explained that after being among the winners at the Olympics, she wanted to "hug the whole world."

Maguchikh later said that after the scandal with her joint photo with Lasitskene, Ukrainian athletes received instructions on how to behave in competitions.
