Named candidates for participation in the anniversary Match of Stars volleyball

Russia (bbabo.net), - The All-Russian Volleyball Federation (VVF) has presented the expanded lists of candidates for participation in the All-Star Game, which will be held on Cosmonautics Day, April 12, at the ten-thousandth Belgorod Arena./i

The rules for selecting players are as follows. First, the mentors of each of the 14 Superleague teams, representatives of the leading media (including Rossiyskaya Gazeta) and VFV experts will vote for the proposed candidates. The head coaches of the "Stars of Russia" and "Stars of the World" will have the right to distribute one special invitation ("wild card"). And finally, there is the original "dark horses" option. That is, these are players whose names are kept secret until the last moment. In total, each team will include 14 volleyball players, in accordance with the official rules of the game in force at all international competitions, except for the Olympics (here, abbreviated applications are 12 athletes).

A separate explanation for the candidates for the "Stars of the World". There are not as many foreigners in the volleyball Superleague as in our clubs of the basketball United League, which is holding its "Star Game" very soon, on February 20th. According to the regulations of the VFV, the limit for legionnaires is no more than two per team. And by the way, not all clubs use the permitted quota in full. Representatives of the Republic of Belarus are not considered foreigners in the Russian Championship, but they claim to be included in the "Stars of the World".

For the first time, the "Match of Stars" of Russian volleyball was held on December 24, 2005 at the arena of the capital's universal sports hall "Druzhba" in Luzhniki. In the period 2005 - 2014, nine such volleyball holidays were organized. Now the tradition has been revived, the fans are waiting for the tenth anniversary All-Star Game.
