Belgian Bart Swings won the speed skating mass start at the Beijing Olympics.

For 16 laps of the race, the skater scored 63 points. A photo finish was needed to determine the silver and bronze medalists. Three athletes competed for medals at once.

As a result, the judges gave silver and bronze to two representatives of South Korea - Jung Jae Won and Lee Seung Hoon, and American Joy Mantia was in fourth place. Fifth place was taken by Russian Daniil Aldoshkin.
