Kazakhstani tennis player Zhibek Kulambayeva paired with Poland's Martina Kuboka reached the quarterfinals of the ITF Forte 60 Women's home tournament, the press service of the FTC reports. She beat another Kazakhstani Sofia Chursina and Ng Kwan Yew from Hong Kong.
The first set turned out to be tense: the opponents took their serves and no one wanted to give up. The outcome of the game was decided by one break - 7:5 in favor of the Kazakh-Polish duo.
In the second game segment, everything was more predictable. Zhibek and Martina acted steadily at the right moments and confidently took over - 6:2.
Kulambaeva and the Cup will meet in the quarterfinals with the representatives of Uzbekistan - Nigina Abdraimova and Akgul Amanmuradova, who outplayed the Russians Angelina Gabueva and Anastasia Zakharova in three sets.
A purely Kazakhstani couple - a native of Kokshetau Ekaterina Dmitrichenko and a pupil of the Shymkent tennis school Gozal Ainitdinova - played against the duet of Ekaterina Makarova from Russia and Czech Linda Noskova.
At the start of the first game, our girls managed to seize the initiative and make a break, then the rivals returned the lost serve and leveled the score - 3:3. But Dmitrichenko and Ainitdinova, having shown a spectacular game, nevertheless broke the resistance of their rivals and left the first game behind them - 6:4.
In the second set there was a mirror situation. Makarova and Noskova went on the attack from the first draw and made a break at the start of the game. Ekaterina and Linda did not leave a single chance for their opponents and took the game with a score of 6:1.
The outcome of the match was decided on a super-tie-break, which turned out to be incredibly spectacular. Makarova and Noskova seized the initiative and made several breaks. But Gozal and Ekaterina managed to win back four points in a row and make the score 6:8. But, having made two successful draws, Ekaterina Makarova and Linda Noskova left the decisive game, and with it the match.
Another Kazakh couple - Aruzhan Sagandykova and Sandugash Kenzhibayeva - lost to Berf Chingiz (Turkey) / Ekaterina Reingold (Russia) - 1:6, 0:6.
