FIFA reacts to the death of 17 fans during a football match

The International Football Federation (FIFA) reacted to the riots that occurred during the match of the 9th round of the Mexican championship between the clubs "Queretaro" and "Atlas".

The game was interrupted in the 62nd minute due to a massive clash of fans. Querétaro State Police reported 22 injured and two hospitalized in critical condition. Later, information appeared in the media about 17 dead.

"FIFA is appalled by the tragic incident that took place at the Corregidora stadium in Querétaro during a Mexican league match. The violence is unacceptable and unbearable. FIFA joins the Mexican Football Association and the Confederation of Football of North and Central America and the Caribbean (CONCACAF) in condemning this barbaric incident "We call on local authorities to bring those responsible to justice as soon as possible. Our thoughts are with all those affected by the unrest. FIFA wants to reiterate that there should be no place for violence in football and we will continue to work with all stakeholders to eradicate him," FIFA said in a statement.
