ESPN has named its version of the composition of the Russian national ice hockey team for the Olympics

The American TV channel ESPN predicted the composition of the Russian national ice hockey team for the 2022 Olympic Games in Beijing, if NHL players take part in them.

The composition looks like this:

forwards: Alexander Ovechkin - Evgeny Malkin - Nikita Kucherov; Artemy Panarin - Vadim Shipachev - Vladimir Tarasenko; Kirill Kaprizov - Vladislav Namestnikov - Andrey Svechnikov; Pavel Buchnevich - Mikhail Grigorenko - Valery Nichushkin.

defenders: Ivan Provorov - Nikita Zaitsev; Mikhail Sergachev - Artem Tooth; Dmitry Orlov - Vladislav Gavrikov.

goalkeepers: Andrey Vasilevsky, Sergey Bobrovsky and Igor Shesterkin.

Tretiak assessed the likelihood of participation of players from the NHL in the Hockey Olympics

ESPN included only two players from the KHL: Shipachev (Dynamo Moscow) and Grigorenko (CSKA).

Earlier, the coaching staff of the Russian national team announced the names of the first three players who entered the team's application for participation in the Games. They were Ovechkin, Kucherov and Vasilevsky.

The Olympics will be held from February 2 to February 20, 2022. In early September, it was announced that NHL players would be arriving in Beijing, but the league could change its mind before January 10. If this happens after January 10, then the NHL will have to reimburse all losses (for example, insurance payments by federations).

NHL players competed in the Olympics from 1998 to 2014 inclusive. The NHL hockey players did not attend the Pyeongchang Games. The Russian national team won that Olympic hockey tournament for the first time since 1992.
