Nadal breaks Federer's record again

Spanish tennis player Rafael Nadal reached the final of the ATP Masters 1000 tournament in Indian Wells (California, USA). In the semi-final meeting, he played with his 18-year-old compatriot Carlos Alcaras, according to bbabo.net.

The semi-final meeting ended with a score of 6:4, 4:6, 6:3 in favor of the 35-year-old Nadal. The game lasted three hours and 12 minutes. The score of personal meetings between the athletes became 2:0 in favor of Rafael.

This victory was for the legendary Spaniard 954th on open courts. Success in the match with Alcaraz allowed him to bypass the previous record holder in this indicator - 40-year-old Swiss Roger Federer (953), who, due to injury, has not played since July last year.

In addition, since the beginning of the year, Rafael has already won the 20th victory in 20 matches played. For him, the upcoming final will be the 53rd in the ATP Masters 1000 series tournaments.

Note that in the final match, Nadal will cross rackets with the American Taylor Fritz, who in turn beat the Russian Andrey Rublev - 7:5, 6:4. Rafa and Taylor have already met once and that was in the final of Monterrey (Mexico) in 2020. Then the Spaniard took over with a score of 6:3, 6:2.

Recall that at the end of January, Nadal had already set one historical record, becoming the first male tennis player to win the 21st Grand Slam tournament. He left behind Federer and Novak Djokovic, who still have 20 triumphs each.
