Two-time Japanese champion figure skater Rika Kihira will miss the Beijing Olympics due to injury, Kyodo reported.

The skater was unable to recover from an injury to her right ankle, in connection with which she will miss the qualifying championship of the country and, accordingly, the Olympics.

It is noted that Kihira has been experiencing leg problems since July.

The Japanese woman is the winner of the Grand Prix final in the 2018/19 season, she won the championship of the four continents twice (2019, 2020) and twice became the medalist of the world team championship. The Olympics will be held in Beijing from 4 to 20 February.
