The champion of Russia announced plans for the most difficult jump in figure skating

Russian champion Mark Kondratyuk told RIA Novosti that he will try to master the quad axel, which is the most difficult jump in modern figure skating, at the end of the season.

“I want to (try). But I think at the end of the season, because it's too traumatic. Better to be patient a little, and maybe I'll try there, ”said Kondratyuk.

On December 26, two-time Olympic champion Yuzuru Hanyu was the first in history to perform a quadruple axel in a competition. He did it in the free skate at the Japan Championships.

Figure skater Kondratyuk won the Russian championship for the first time Figure skating “This is the development of figure skating. This is the future. Will Yuzuru be able to make it clean? Of course, I want him to do it. But then how it goes. I can only wish him good luck, ”said Kondratyuk.

Kondratyuk on Friday became the champion of Russia for the first time, 0.67 points ahead of the three-time tournament winner Mikhail Kolyada.

Axel is considered the most difficult jump in figure skating. This is the only jump performed with forward motion, due to which there is a “non-integer” number of revolutions in it. That is, in fact, the fourth axel is a jump of four and a half revolutions.
