Former volleyball player of the Russian national team Vadim Khamuttskikh dies at the age of 52

Russia (bbabo.net), - Silver medalist of the Sydney Olympics as part of the Russian national volleyball team Vadim Khamuttskikh died at the age of 53. This was reported on the official website of the Belogorye club, where he worked as a coach.

The former athlete passed away on December 31. The cause of death is not named.

"This is an irreparable loss for all Russian and world volleyball. The Belogorye volleyball club expresses condolences to the family and friends of Vadim Anatolyevich. Information about the farewell ceremony for the famous player will appear later," the club said in a statement.

As part of the Russian national team, Khamuttskikh also became a two-time Olympic bronze medalist (2004, 2008), vice-world champion (2002) and Europe (1999), won the World Cup (1999) and the World League (2002).

At the club level, Khamuttskikh spent most of his career at Belogorie. He is a seven-time champion of Russia, six-time winner of the Cup of the country, two-time winner of the Champions League. In 2013, he finished his sports career and soon joined the coaching staff of the Belgorod team.
