A remake of the highest-grossing Russian film Kholop will be filmed in China

The Chinese film company Alibaba Pictures will shoot a remake of Klim Shipenko's comedy Kholop. This is reported by the Bulletin of the Film Distributor.

The film is scheduled to premiere in Chinese in 2023–2024.

China is not the first country to film its version of Kholop. The film rights were previously bought by Sony Pictures for filming in Mexico, India, South Korea, Japan and Spain, as well as the Polish company Monolith Films and the French SND.

The comedy "Kholop" was released in December 2019. The main roles in the film were played by Milos Bikovich and Alexandra Bortich.

Earlier it was reported that the remakes of the film “Kholop”, which collected the largest box office in Russia, will be launched in seven countries.

Own versions of the film about the re-education of a spoiled major in the provinces will be filmed in Poland, France, India, South Korea, Spain, Japan and Mexico. Work on the Polish “Kholop” will be carried out jointly with the Russian producers of the film, the partners will start shooting the film in August 2022.
