Actor Hardy Krueger dies at 93

Actor Hardy Krueger has died at the age of 93 in California (USA), according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The agency that worked with the artist calls his death sudden and unexpected. “One cannot forget the warmth of his heart, love of life and unshakable sense of justice,” the message says.

Kruger played opposite John Wayne in Hatari! (1962), with Laurence Olivier in A Bridge Too Far (1977), also starred in Stanley Kubrick's Barry Lyndon (1975).

Born in Berlin in 1928 to a committed Nazi family, Hardy Krueger had his first role in the 1944 propaganda film The Eaglet. At the age of 16, he was drafted into the Nazi army, where he refused to shoot captured American soldiers. After he was taken into American captivity. Having become famous, Kruger actively condemned the actions of the Nazis.

The actor was married three times - to actress Renate Densou, artist Francesca Marazzi and writer Anita Park. With the latter he lived until the end of his life. Kruger is survived by three children - Christian, Malaika and Hardy Kruger Jr.
