Amazon Studios, a division of Amazon, is working on a series as part of the Blade Runner franchise, writes The Hollywood Reporter.

According to the publication, the project is called Blade Runner 2099 (Blade Runner 2099). The show will be a sequel to Blade Runner (1982) and Blade Runner 2049 (2017).

Plot details for Blade Runner 2099 are yet to be revealed.

The series will be executive produced by Ridley Scott, director of the first installment in the franchise.

This week it was reported that director and special effects creator Douglas Trumbull has died at the age of 80 after a long battle with cancer. He was nominated three times for the Academy Award "Oscar" - for special effects for such films as "Close Encounters of the Third Kind", "Star Trek", and "Blade Runner".
