Matytsin, after talking with Valieva, said about the optimism in her voice

Despite the situation with a positive doping test, figure skater Kamila Valieva remains optimistic, and this is doubly convincing of her innocence, said Russian Sports Minister Oleg Matytsin. The minister's words are quoted by Match TV.

“I have already spoken to Camila twice, called her. Camila is a very strong person. Despite the age of 15, there is optimism and energy in her voice. This doubly convinces us that she is innocent. We hope for a fair consideration of the case,” Matytsin said.

According to him, the Ministry of Sports "is doing everything possible to protect the interests of our athlete and the interests of our sport."

Tutberidze did not rule out a “well-planned plan” in the case of Valieva Olympiad 2022 “I hope that there will be no reasons and the topic will not be developed during the CAS panel meeting, which, according to our information, will be held tomorrow. We will proceed from the situation that will develop. I want to say that the protection of the athlete is carried out by professional lawyers. There are enough arguments to build an effective defense,” Matytsin said.

The visiting panel of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) on Sunday will decide on the further participation in the Olympics of 15-year-old Valieva.

The figure skater passed a positive doping test for trimetazidine at the end of December 2021, but this became known after the athlete became the Olympic champion as part of the Russian team. The individual singles competitions at the Beijing Games will be held on February 15 and 17.

Valieva is the current champion of Russia and Europe and the owner of all three world records in women's skating.
