By the way, back in Pennabilli, cats and dogs from all over the area come to visit them. Eating, talking and just passing around. When Tonino was eighty years old, his friends flew to him from Russia and from all the former Soviet republics: sculptors, artists, poets, musicians, professors, patrons, museum directors, priests, athletes, metallurgists, journalists, ballet dancers, musicians, winemakers and just good people."

Danelia also gives a description of Tonino himself.
