Russia - A book about Tonino Guerra has been published in Russia

Russia (bbabo.net), - The book "Chao, Tonino!", carefully collected by Andrey Khrzhanovsky, presents the famous screenwriter of cult pictures in the memories of Russian friends. The weighty volume - 623 pages - was published by Ruthenia. But you can be sure that if our people were free, they would provide memoirs for several more volumes.

For, according to Rezo Gabriadze, quoted at the end of this book, "Meeting with Tonino is one of the wonderful gifts of fate, unexpected and unforgettable." In his opening remarks, Andrei Khrzhanovsky, the author and drafter of the project, writes that Tonino Guerra has always considered Russia his second homeland. And it was in Russia that Tonino found his wife, with whom he spent happy years - the rest of his life - Laura. Therefore, the book opens with the most personal - a letter from Laura Guerra, which begins with the words: "I'm in love with you again, Tonino."

“Tonino Guerra is a poet,” Andrey Tarkovsky claims in his essay (some of the materials included in the book have already been published earlier. - Approx. Aut.). “And when he turns to prose, and when he writes a script for a movie, and when he writes poetry. Poetry is his worldview, his way of life..." Tarkovsky recalls that "in addition to a large number of prose and poetry collections, Guerra wrote many screenplays for now famous films. He collaborated with Michelangelo Antonioni, and with Rosi, and with Federico Fellini. In Fellini's "Amarcorde", the whole episode about the madman in the tree came from Guerra's poem "The Cat in the Apricot Tree".

All the best filmmakers are always poets. Let us recall the names of at least some of them - Dovzhenko, Fellini, Vigo, Antonioni, Bergman, Parajanov, Bunuel, Kurosawa. Cinema is born by poets. And so Tonino Guerra is not accidental in him. In Guerra's poems you will find a lot - and subtle humor, and sadness, and joy, and suffering, and hope. He is very gentle and vulnerable, this peasant from Romagna, devoid of skin."

George Danelia recalls how he was visiting Tonino and Laura both in Rome and in the small Italian town of Pennabilli, where Tonino spent the rest of his life, and Laura still lives. "... For many years, Tonino and Laura have not lived in Rome. In the small town of Pennabilli, in the province of Romagna, where Tonino comes from, and on the mountainside he built a house, which, of course, he furnished and painted. there are now not one, but many gardens. "Garden of Remembrance", "Garden of Forgotten Fruits", "Just a Garden" and others. And next to their house they built a house for guests. This house was designed by Laura. She brought rustic rugs from Russia handmade, popular prints, towels, spinning wheels and all sorts of things. It turned out to be a cozy house."

“Recently, I rarely meet a person who has not been to Tonino in Pennabilli,” Danelia continues. “There is always someone living in their guest house. When there are too many guests, Tonino and Laura rent rooms for them in a small hotel in the center of the town, which they also painted and furnished to their liking. By the way, back in Pennabilli, cats and dogs from all over the area come to visit them. Eating, talking and just passing around. An old proverb says: "Tell me who your friend is, and I will tell you Who are you". When Tonino was eighty years old, his friends flew to him from Russia and from all the former Soviet republics: sculptors, artists, poets, musicians, professors, patrons, museum directors, priests, athletes, metallurgists, journalists, ballet dancers, musicians, winemakers and just good people."

Danelia also gives a description of Tonino himself. According to him, he is "a poet, screenwriter, writer and artist, and a journalist, and an architect, sculptor, designer, philanthropist, storyteller, teacher, metallurgist, inventor, public figure, agronomist, gardener, chemist - and just a good person. And he is also a football player and saxophonist.

Guerra has always considered Russia his second home

He wrote a lot of scripts, poems, fairy tales, articles. He painted a myriad of pictures. Stained-glass windows, wine labels, tablecloths, books are made according to his drawings. Poetry palaces and fountains are built according to his drawings. It has its own technology for firing ceramics, its own technology for casting metal, its own technology for melting glass. Tonino has countless talents. It seems to me that there, upstairs, someone made a mistake: Tonino must have been born in the Renaissance. In terms of scale and versatility, it could perhaps be compared with Leonardo da Vinci.

Irina Antonova and Otar Ioseliani, Bella Akhmadulina and Marlen Khutsiev, Yuri Rost, Sergei Solovyov, Naum Kleiman, Slava Polunin, Irakli Kvirikadze, Paola Volkova and others. Their memories of Tonino are not just an unusual "not made by hands" monument to him, but also evidence of time about them. Some of them are no longer alive. But their words, drawings, photographs remained. And when you read the book, there is no shadow of a doubt that all these people are alive. They just sit in the "Garden of Memories" and communicate - to themselves and others for pleasure.
