Russia - Why Ukrainian Alina Pash refused to go to Eurovision 2022

Russia (bbabo.net), - Ukrainian singer Alina Pash, who won the national selection thanks to the assessments of TV viewers and the jury, published a message on Instagram and Facebook that she was withdrawing her candidacy and would not go to Turin for Eurovision 2022./ i

The reason is quite simple and, as is often the case in Ukraine these days, it has to do with politics. Whether or not to allow a performer to Eurovision 2022 in this country is now decided by the Border Guard Service. Alina Pash ended up in Crimea in 2015, which is considered "temporarily occupied" in Ukraine. Having already won the national selection, she was waiting for an official response to a request to the Border Guard. But as time went on, one of her team members submitted a certificate to the organizing committee, which turned out to be fake. And now, on her Instagram page, Alina said that "and could not think that the document was fake."

A discussion began - did Alina cross the border with Crimea in a legal way for Ukraine, that is, from its territory, or did she fly to the peninsula from Moscow, carefully hiding this fact?

As a result, the performer, not waiting for a possible wave of criticism from fans, chose to refuse to participate in the contest, although her ethnic song "Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors" turned out to be both fascinating and impressive. And the room itself was made bright, expensive on a budget and quite stylish.

Now, after the fact, Alina Pash has been added to the Peacemaker database, and the State Border Service of Ukraine has stated that "it has never issued her a certificate of legal crossing of the administrative border with Crimea."

By the way

While the current situation is being worked out, the lawyers of the parties are studying it. Only when they understand the situation will it be announced who exactly will go to Eurovision 2022 from Ukraine: Alina Pash or someone else already approved by the Border Service.

Ukrainian music lovers are also discussing what happened - on Instagram and Facebook. There was talk that Kalush could represent Ukraine. But it seems that this will not come true either, because a photograph was found on the Web where a member of the group poses on Red Square and smiles. So, it seems that this will also be considered a reason not to allow the group to go to the competition.

At one of the recent competitions, Maruv also refused to go to Eurovision. She did not like that she would be allowed to express only the official positions of the national organizing committee.
