Andy Warhol to be brought to life in new Netflix documentary series

American director Ryan Murphy will present on Netflix a new documentary about the cult artist Andy Warhol. The first trailer for the project has been released.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Murphy has teamed up with director Andrew Rossi to create The Andy Warhol Diaries, a six-part documentary that will be released on the streaming service.

The project used artificial intelligence technology to recreate the voice of Warhol, who "reads" the entries in his own diary.

"I'm just a freak," says Warhol in the trailer. I haven't been very close to anyone. Although, perhaps, I wanted to be it.

Actor Bill Irwin recorded the artist's lines, and then a computer conversion algorithm turned them into Warhol's Pittsburgh accent.

The project is executive produced by Murphy, Rossi, Josh Brown, Stanley Buchtal, Alexis Martin Woodall and Scott Robertson.

The Andy Warhol Diaries will be released on the streaming service on March 9th.

February 22 marks the 35th anniversary of Andy Warhol's death. The famed artist, producer, publisher, and filmmaker died in 1987 of cardiac arrest, two weeks after undergoing minor gallbladder surgery. He was 58 years old. Buried in his native Pittsburgh.

Warhol is called the founder of the "homo universale" ideology. He created works that have become synonymous with the concept of "commercial pop art". In the 1960s, he was the manager and producer of the first alternative rock band, The Velvet Underground. Several feature films and documentaries have been made about his life.
