Engineers, other doctors

In total, more than 50,000 students study in pre-professional classes in the capital, or about half of all high school students in the city. And the number of children is growing every year, for example, last year there were 5,000 fewer students in these classes. Cadet classes remain the most popular destination, with more than 26,000 teenagers studying there. Such classes are open in 261 schools. In second place in popularity are engineering classes, they were chosen by 10.5 thousand students in 152 schools. In third place are medical classes. They are represented in 97 schools, more than 6 thousand schoolchildren dream of becoming doctors. The fourth direction in demand is IT classes. This project involves 75 schools, more than 3.5 thousand students. More than two thousand people study in the new pedagogical classes opened in 47 schools.

As Kristina Martynova, a student of the new pedagogical class of school No. 1492, said, her choice was influenced by the content of the educational program. "I really liked the training program. There are many subjects that are useful in everyday life," says the schoolgirl. "We study human psychology, social and legal courses, oratory."As noted in the Moscow Department of Education and Science, in order for theory to be supported by practice, high-tech equipment is at the disposal of high school students, for example, 3D printers and scanners, interactive simulators for practicing first aid skills, and digital laboratories.

As Maksim Tatarnikov, a graduate of school No. 1502 "Energia", said, it was the ability to use modern equipment that helped him in the competition of interdisciplinary skills and knowledge "Intellectual metropolis. Potential" at the end of the eleventh grade. “This exam is the final one for such classes, and if it is passed successfully, additional points are added to the Unified State Examination for admission to a university,” Maxim said. “I took engineering graphics in the AutoCAD program, and my classmates wrote programs to control the actions of robots. successfully performed at the competition, the extra points I received were enough to get into the budget department of the physics department of the Higher School of Economics."

Career in demanded professions

As the Department of Education and Science said, there are more cases when graduates of pre-professional classes receive not only additional points, but also a job. Graduates of medical and IT classes are popular with employers. As Ksenia Gladnikova, an English teacher and curator of pre-professional classes at school No. 1532, noted, they already have eleventh-graders - future employees of the company in Skolkovo, with whom they have concluded deferred employment contracts. "The guys showed themselves at city conferences and competitions, received invitations after graduation to come to work in the company to develop new composite materials," says Gladnikova. However, according to teachers, the conclusion of an employment contract is not an end in itself. The most important thing in pre-professional classes is to help the child decide on a future profession.

As the curator of the academic class and teacher of computer science and physics at school No. 444 Roman Koltunov said, they had a case when a schoolboy who had dreamed of being a doctor since childhood, having entered the medical class, changed his mind: "I preferred a related discipline - biotechnology, and moved to engineering Class".
