The Moldovan Commission for Emergency in the Energy Industry ordered Moldovagaz to pay off the debt for gas to Gazprom by the end of the day in order to avoid shutting off gas. This is reported by TASS with reference to the relevant document.

Earlier, the Moldovan parliament declared a state of emergency in the country against the backdrop of the "gas crisis". The state of emergency will be in effect for 60 days. The decision was supported by 58 deputies (out of 101) from the ruling Action and Solidarity party. At the same time, the opposition parliamentarians did not support the proposal of the Moldovan authorities.
Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilitsa explained that the result of commercial relations between Moldovagaz and Russia's Gazprom led to the crisis.
The government admits that there is a real risk to energy security and the country's residents in connection with the cessation of the supply of resources. A five-year gas supply contract was signed between Moldovagaz and Gazprom, which entered into force on November 1, 2021.
