Russia - Average bill for mortgages has updated its historical maximum

Russia (bbabo.net), - The average size of mortgage loans in Russia in January amounted to 3.89 million rubles. Compared to December 2021, this figure increased by 20.7%, according to the National Bureau of Credit Histories (NBCH).

The NBKI recalled that until December 2021, when a decrease in the average mortgage loan size was recorded, the indicator had been growing for four months.

In January, the largest "average check" on mortgages was recorded in Moscow (7.76 million rubles), the Moscow region (6.01 million) and St. Petersburg (5.09 million). At the same time, the largest growth was recorded in the Volgograd region (plus 61.8%), the Stavropol Territory (plus 58.8%) and the Rostov region (plus 56.2%).

Earlier, Deputy Finance Minister Alexei Moiseev said that mortgage rates in Russia in 2022 are unlikely to overcome the 15% mark on average. "The mortgage rate is the rate of the Central Bank + 2.5%, so we go to 12%," the official explained, noting that it is unprofitable for banks to worsen the conditions of mortgage lending.

As of the end of January, the weighted average rate of the top 20 banks on mortgages in new buildings was 9.87%.
