Recently, Russian President Vladimir Putin raised this topic at a meeting with his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron.

As Meshkov stressed, discrimination against Russian media in France is completely unacceptable. "I would advise our French colleagues to take a closer look at the history of Deutsche Welle. Maybe this will affect their mental process," the diplomat said. "I'm talking about the need to respect the freedom of speech and the right of the Russian media to work on a common basis in the country," the ambassador stressed.

He also drew attention to the fact that the situation in France is different from what is happening in Germany. "They simply didn't let me work there. And RT France and Sputnik work despite the restrictions," Meshkov said. According to him, the ban on Deutsche Welle broadcasting in Russia was a necessary measure. "This is just evidence that we are running out of patience," the ambassador said. "The policy of sanctions against the media is not our way, we have never used it. But in some cases there is already a limit that requires reciprocity," the diplomat added.
