Scholz answered a question about the launch of Nord Stream 2

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said that the German government will assess the security of gas supply in connection with the suspension of Nord Stream 2. He told the ARD TV channel about this.

A journalist asked Scholz if the suspension could indicate that the pipeline will never be launched.

“First of all, we are far from it. What is going to happen now is there will be a new safety assessment for the gas supply in light of everything that has happened,” he said.

According to him, no one can make a prediction about the fate of the gas pipeline.

Earlier, German Foreign Minister Annalena Berbock said that Germany had suspended the certification of Nord Stream 2 so that Russia would feel the consequences of its actions.

She stressed that Germany is now developing a package of sanctions against Russia.

Prior to this, the German Ministry of Economics suspended the certification process for Nord Stream 2. It is noted that the corresponding decision was made against the backdrop of the situation around Ukraine.
