Russia - An injured tiger cub was rescued in Primorye

Russia (bbabo.net) - A local fisherman found an emaciated tiger cub with a jaw injury on the banks of a river in the Anuchinsky district of Primorsky Krai. He told the hunting inspectors about the foundling, who immediately went to the place and took the animal, according to the website of the Amur Tiger Center.

At first, experts suggested that the tiger cub is one of three babies whose mother was searched for by the hunting inspectors and safely found in the Anuchinsky region in December last year. But then it turned out that this was the cub of another tigress.

The tiger cub turned out to be a female of 4-5 months. The baby was severely emaciated, in addition, she had frostbite on the tip of her tail and an injured muzzle.

- The nature of the injuries and their condition allowed us to accurately simulate the picture of what happened in the forest. In search of food, the tiger cub, left without a mother, most likely collided with a dog and during the conflict received bites in the soft tissues of the muzzle. Due to exhaustion in severe frosts, I could not “warm” myself and received frostbite of injured tissues and tail, ”says Sergei Aramilev, general director of the Amur Tiger Center.

Doctors immediately docked the tip of the tail and treated the frostbite area on the lower jaw. Subsequent treatment took place in two stages. First, a course of antibiotics was carried out and special food was provided, because the tiger cub weighed only 20 kilograms at a rate of 30-40 kg and could not bear the surgical intervention. Then the doctors performed all the necessary manipulations. By the way, the tiger cub was treated not by veterinarians, but by the doctors of the Vladivostok Clinical Hospital No. 2 Nikita Vereshchak and Andrey Prodan.

Now the predator has gained weight, began to move more and show a healthy reaction of a wild animal to a person: the specialists bringing him food, instead of a doomed look, began to receive a portion of a formidable hiss.

- The most important thing is to stop tissue necrosis. If the tail, or rather its amputated section, does not play a role in the future, then the lower jaw is extremely important. We really hope that the delayed effect, which is characteristic of frostbite, will help, ”says Sergey Aramilev.

Experts are watching the tiger cub. Perhaps in the future it will be released into nature.
