The Embassy of Cuba responded to reports about the deployment of Russian military infrastructure on the island

The Cuban embassy in Moscow told RIA Novosti that they have no data on whether the Russian military presence on the island is being discussed.

The agency's comment came after Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said in an interview with RTVI that "actions" by the Russian Defense Ministry would depend "on the actions of American colleagues" in the event of "increased military pressure." Ryabkov said that he did not want to confirm anything on this issue, but he would not exclude anything either, and stressed that Moscow did not want such a development of the situation.

In response, the United States promised to "understand" this issue. For example, Jake Sullivan, National Security Adviser to the President of the United States, during a briefing broadcast on the White House's Twitter, said that Washington would give a tough response to Moscow if Russian troops were deployed in Latin America.

Earlier, Ryabkov said that the Cuban Missile Crisis of 1962 could happen again. In his opinion, this can happen if the United States and members of the alliance continue to put pressure on Russia.
