Former Ukrainian President, Viktor Yanukovych, said that the perpetrators of the shooting of protesters on Independence Square in February 2014 are the representatives of the current authorities of the country. He told this in an interview with RIA Novosti.

"I firmly believe that the shooting was conducted by some of the current high-ranking officials in Ukraine who had tried to carefully cover their tracks. But if the situation in the country changes and the real investigation starts, you can still have time to find and prove the guilt of the killers. And I am very interested in this", - said Yanukovych.

However, he said that the shootings on the Independence Square may be conducted by the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC), Oleksandr Turchynov, the first deputy chairman of the Verkhovna Rada, Andrii Parubii, and the chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on National Security and Defence, Sergey Pashinskii.
