Kiev demanded from Berlin to refute the statement of the commander of the Navy about the Crimea

The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry turned to the German government with a demand to refute the words of the commander of the German Navy, Kai-Achim Schönbach, who said that Crimea would never return to Ukraine. This is reported by RIA Novosti with reference to the press secretary of the ministry Oleg Nikolenko.

“We consider the statements of the Commander of the German Naval Forces, Kai-Achim Schönbach, to be categorically unacceptable. The Crimean peninsula can only be lost in the imagination of a German Vice Admiral. Crimea will certainly return thanks to the hard efforts of Ukraine and its partners,” he said.

Nikolenko noted that Schönbach's statement undermines the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, and also neutralizes efforts aimed at de-escalating tensions in Europe.

The denial must be made publicly, the spokesman stressed.

Earlier, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba criticized the statements of the German authorities about the impossibility of transferring defense weapons to the country, the futility of the return of Crimea and the negative consequences for Europe if Russia is disconnected from the SWIFT international payment system.
