NATO strengthens its presence in Eastern Europe in connection with the situation around Ukraine

A number of NATO member countries have decided to send additional forces to the bloc's deployment sites in Eastern Europe. As noted on the website of the North Atlantic Alliance, it is mainly about fighters and warships.

Thus, Denmark will send a frigate to the Baltic Sea and deliver four F-16 fighters to Lithuania. Spain will attach its ships to the NATO naval forces, in addition, Madrid is exploring the possibility of sending fighter jets to Bulgaria. France expressed its readiness to transfer its troops to Romania. The Netherlands will send two F-35 fighter jets to Bulgaria from April, and will also bring one ship and ground units into reserve for the NATO response force. And of course, the US is considering increasing its military presence in Eastern Europe.

As NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg noted, the alliance will continue to take all necessary measures to protect its allies.

It is noteworthy that NATO took these steps in the midst of negotiations on security guarantees initiated by Russia. Moscow is currently awaiting a written response from Washington and Brussels to its proposals.
