Irtyshat mosque received the official status of a monument

Russia and the CIS (bbabo.net) - The mosque of the village of Irtyshatskie Yurty of the Tobolsk region has officially become a monument of cultural heritage of regional significance under the name "Mosque". The relevant order was issued by the Committee for the Protection and Use of Objects of Historical and Cultural Heritage of the Tyumen Region, and yesterday the document was received by a Muslim organization.

Khalilya Shamakova, chairman of the Irtyshat Yurts LRO, called the committee's order a long-awaited event and thanked the government of the Tyumen region for helping to restore the old mosque.

The Irtyshat yurts are an ancient settlement of the Siberian Tatars. It is located 13 km from Tobolsk. In the archives of the "Tobolsk district police department" there is information that the mosque in Irtyshatsky was built in 1891. Local residents, the population of the neighboring village of Yurta Tachimovskie (the ancestral village of Mufti Nafigulla Ashirov) and part of the serving Tatars of the Tobolsk irregular light Cossack army under the command of Murza Kulmametevs were assigned to it. With the establishment of Soviet power, the religious community in the Irtyshat Yurts was liquidated, and the building was transferred to the club. In the post-war period, a granary was located in the mosque.

Since the mid-1990s, unsuccessful attempts have been made by local residents to reconstruct the mosque. In 2010, Khalilya Shamakova, an entrepreneur, assumed responsibility for the restoration. In March 2011, the Muslim community of the village of Irtyshat Yurts was officially registered as part of the DUMACHR.

“Having assumed the duties of the chairman of a Muslim organization, I began to write appeals to the authorities, walk around the offices, insisting that our mosque, as a cultural monument - an example of the wooden architecture of the Siberian Tatars - should be restored at the expense of the state,” recalls Khalilya Khanum. - In the authorities, I found complete understanding. Funds were allocated from the budget of the Tyumen region, first for research work, design estimates, and then for a complete restoration.

In 2014, restoration work began. In 2018, on the Eid al-Adha holiday, the grand opening of the revived Yurt Irtyshatskikh Mosque took place. And at the beginning of 2022, the ancient mosque officially became a monument of cultural heritage of regional significance.
