The Foreign Ministry called the response of the EU and NATO to Lavrov's letter on security mutual responsibility

Moscow cannot accept a written response from the European Union and NATO to a letter from Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov about their understanding of the principle of the indivisibility of security. This is stated in the comments of the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova.

According to her, the response of the collective West resembles "mutual responsibility".

“We are waiting for a detailed response to the question we have raised from each addressee. Dodging the answer means that the West does not want to recognize the commitments taken through the OSCE and Russia-NATO and is trying to take care of its security at our expense, ”the message says.

In his message, Lavrov said that Russia is concerned about the growth of military and political tensions in the immediate vicinity of its western borders, as well as the fact that colleagues from the United States, NATO and the European Union are calling for "de-escalation" and urging the Russian Federation to "choose the path of diplomacy", however, Russia and so follows this path.

At the end of January, the US and NATO handed over to the Russian Federation their written responses to the security guarantees offered by Moscow. Russian President Vladimir Putin, commenting on the documents, noted that the United States and NATO "bypassed" the issues identified by the Russian capital, providing in response "political clichés" and proposals on secondary topics.
