Permanent Representative to the UN in Geneva called the likely outcome of the West's game with security guarantees

Gennady Gatilov, Russia's permanent representative to the Geneva office of the United Nations (UN), believes that the United States' game of raising the stakes in negotiations on security guarantees is likely to turn out to be a tragedy. It is reported by RIA Novosti.

“Our serious concern is that the US and its allies are aggravating the situation to such an extent that the game to raise rates can turn into a real tragedy...” Gatilov explained.

As the Permanent Representative to the UN in Geneva emphasized, those who imposed this game on the international community will be held responsible for what happened.

At the same time, the diplomat admitted that the United States and a number of partners are not yet ready for a real unleashing of the conflict with the Russian Federation.

Gatilov also added that such a technique with pressure, military maneuvers and sanctions is known in diplomacy and has already been used in the history of international relations.

The United States and NATO refused to sign a treaty on security guarantees in Europe, which was proposed by Russia. Western partners do not agree with the demand not to accept the former countries of the USSR into the alliance.

Earlier, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, told what kind of response the Russian Federation wants to receive from the United States.
