Permanent Representative of Russia to the European Union Volodymyr Chizhov said that 125,000 Ukrainian troops are on the border with Russia, the BBC reports.

“Why is no one talking about Ukrainian soldiers? Their army consists of more than a quarter of a million people, more than half of which are stationed right next to Russia, ”Chizhov answered a question from a British journalist.

He noted that Russia believes in the possibility of a peaceful settlement of the situation.

“We still believe that there is room for diplomacy. Russia is preparing a formal response to the answers we received from the US and NATO on Russian security concerns in Europe,” Chizhov explained, noting that it would be wise for Western countries “not to provoke Russia to change its mind.”

Earlier, the United States assessed the chances of Ukraine in the war against Russia.

According to military expert Daniel De Petris, they are not.
