Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov revealed some details of Russian President Vladimir Putin's visit to Beijing and his meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping, RIA Novosti reports.

He said that Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, Energy Minister Nikolai Shulginov, Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko, and Rosneft head Igor Sechin would accompany the president during his trip. According to him, the Russian delegation would have been more representative, but the adjustments were made due to restrictions due to the coronavirus.

On February 4, the leaders will adopt a joint statement on international relations entering a new era and global sustainable development, the aide to the Russian president said.

“This joint statement will reflect the common views of Russia and China on the most important global issues, including security issues,” he said.

According to the diplomat, after the talks, Putin and Xi Jinping will talk in a tête-à-tête format, and in the evening the Russian president will take part in the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympic Games.

The 2022 Olympic Games will be held from February 4 to 20 in the Chinese capital. A total of 109 sets of medals will be played, Russia will be represented by 212 athletes in 15 disciplines.
